So, yesterday I took that to heart and started out running faster than I normally want to. It was tough, of course, but I was able to finish with my highest mileage total ever in one hour. I ended up with 7.49 miles and 8:01 min/mi pace. I was oh, so close, to 7.5 miles...maybe another time.
And then to follow that up, this morning I completed what I like to call a 7-mile Negative Train run. Choo-choo. Meaning, every single mile was a negative split, and purposely ran to be about 10 seconds faster than the previous mile. In order, I ran 8:40, 8:35, 8:25, 8:15, 8:03, 7:52, and 7:44, then had a pace of 7:31 when I stopped at the one hour mark. I finished at 7.32 miles.
I'm feeling pretty good with myself. I am about 60 miles from the halfway point of my goal to finish with 1,500 miles in one year.
