Lake Superior Literacy Council - Great Young Authors Festival

I had a great time presenting to elementary-age students at the Young Authors Festival in Superior, Wisconsin, on Saturday, November 16. Thank you to everyone involved that made this happen. There was a great group of kids (and parents) that participated and shared their writing. We had lots of laughs and the kids provided wonderful and unique ideas during the writing activities.

Half-Marathons in 2019

Well, after a couple months hiatus, I finally finished another half-marathon in 2019 bringing my new total (and current annual record) to six.

This last one was pretty tough. My body wasn't ready for it (and I knew that going in), so I had to really gut it out and stay mentally focused for the entire race.

Summer of Half-Marathons

I finished my fifth half-marathon this summer. It was a beautiful day yesterday, so I went out for an early morning run and decided to keep running after going a few miles. I felt really good up until mile 9, and then my body started to slow down and malfunction. It was a hard push and mentally exhausting to keep going, but I was able to finish 13.1 miles in 2 hours and 8 minutes with an average pace of 9:48.

I have now finished 18 half-marathons in my life. Here's the breakdown by years:

2013 - 1
2014 - 0
2015 - 1
2016 - 3
2017 - 3
2018 - 5
2019 - 5

I really feel like I want to break that tie between 2018 and 2019. I still have about 4 months left in 2019, so I'll probably give it the old middle-aged try.

The End of Summer

Well, this summer went by quickly. I wrote down a few story ideas but didn't do much real book writing. So, basically, I took the whole summer off. School is starting soon. Maybe that will re-energize me and get me going again.

Author Visit at Rusk County Library

I will be at the Rusk County Library for an Author Visit on Saturday, June 29 at 11 AM. I will be reading Unicorn’s Birthday Wish, sharing some of my other early reader books, talking about my writing process, and helping kids with a fun writing and drawing activity. It should be a lot of fun. I will also bring books to purchase that you can get signed.

Reading at Bruce School
